Jaymon (pronounced Jay-min) Ortega is currently in his second year of the Educational Counseling (E.C.) masters program, and preparing to work as a community college counselor. Before starting the E.C. program, he studied Psychology and Education at UC Berkeley. While working there as a Peer Academic Counselor with the Educational Opportunity Program, he fell in love with helping students. Following graduation in 2016, he enrolled in the E.C. program.
Jaymon’s work at USC has included serving in the USC Student Athlete Academic Services office with the football team as a graduate assistant intern counselor, as well as in Rossier’s Ed. D. Office as a Dean’s Fellow. This past spring, he completed his fieldwork at Los Angeles City College as an Outreach Coach, and next fall, he will work at Glendale City College as a counseling intern and at East Los Angeles City College with the Male Leadership Academy. When he is not working or studying he enjoys traveling, exploring LA, and being physically active with friends and family.
