Sacramento Bee Publishes CUE Op-Ed on New Federal Diversity Guidelines
A recently published Sacramento Bee op-ed by executive director Linda J. Wong and co-directors Estela Mara Bensimon and Alicia C. Dowd discussed the new federal diversity guidelines for colleges across the U.S. They encouraged institutions to take advantage of these guidelines, which say that the race and ethnicity of students may be considered if race-neutral measures like standardized test results, household income or geography can't achieve colleges' diversity goals. "The state's education leaders should take advantage of this important change and move aggressively to expand college opportunities for Latino and black students," according to Bensimon, Dowd, and Wong.
